News from SAVE OUR SCHOOLS MARCH

Rog Lucido, author of EDUCATIONAL GENOCIDE, retired high school Physics teacher, and public school advocate, attended the Save Our Schools March in Washington D.C. with his devoted wife, Vincie. He has documented this adventure on his blog. Take a moment to read his thoughts and reflections at the following link: ROG LUCIDO'S BLOG, TESTING ABUSE.

THIS MAN IS MY HERO!!!! Believe him. What he says may sound radical, but teachers in the classroom KNOW what he says is RIGHT!

Rog is an exceptional resource on the CHARTER SCHOOL MOVEMENT. This is a quote from a recent email:

From a 1912 edition of The American Teacher via Ruth Rodriguez...

“We have yielded to the arrogance of “big businessmen” and have accepted their criteria of efficiency at their own validation, without question. We have consented to measure results of educational efforts in terms of price and product-the terms that prevail in the factory and the department store. But education, since it deals in the first place with human organisms, and in the second place with individualities, is not analogous to a standardizable manufacturing process. Education must first and foremost measure its efficiency not in terms of so many promotions per dollar of expenditure, nor even in terms of so many student-hours per dollar of salary, it must measure its efficiency in terms of increased humanism, increased power to do, increased capacity to appreciate”.

We have all heard this ancient saying: Money is the root of all evil.

There are many who might say "Charter schools are the root all all evil"  in the world of modern education.

Those who are raising the clarion call for balance and reason when comparing charter schools and public schools do not believe this to be true. Instead, they are asking the public to educate themselves  before making any comparisons between the two institutions.
